On December 12, 2019, Beijing Huonland Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Ocumension Biopharmaceutical (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on ophthalmology in Beijing. The two parties will initially collaborate on a single-dose sodium hyaluronate eye drop product (0.3%). Huonland will be responsible for the production and quality control of this product, while Ocumension will handle its exclusive promotion nationwide. Chairman Xu Songshan, General Manager Nie Liya, Ocumension CEO Liu Ye, and other senior leaders from both companies witnessed the signing ceremony.

Xu Songshan, Chairman of the company, stated: “Huonland is a specialized manufacturer of ophthalmic pharmaceutical products. We boast an advanced, integrated “blow-fill-seal” (BFS) sterile automated production line as well as a robust GMP management system, which ensure product quality to the greatest extent possible. Currently, our company has a well-rounded product portfolio and continues to develop new ophthalmic products.” Liu Ye, CEO of Ocumetics, said: “Ocumetics is committed to providing Chinese ophthalmic patients with superior and comprehensive treatment solutions through continuous scientific research and innovation. At the same time, we actively leverage our extensive resources in the ophthalmology field to explore, seek, develop, produce, and obtain ophthalmic drugs. Focusing on the health of Chinese ophthalmic patients, Ocumetics remains steadfast in pursuing ways to benefit these patients through various channels. We firmly believe that both independent R&D and collaborative alliances are crucial. Through our own distribution network, Ocumetics delivers high-quality products directly to patients, alleviating their suffering and thereby serving society.”

As the most widely used product for treating dry eye and promoting the repair of corneal epithelial damage, sodium hyaluronate eye drops have been recognized by both physicians and patients for their efficacy and safety. The 0.3% (0.8 ml: 2.4 mg) formulation boasts a higher concentration compared to similar products on the market, making it more conducive to corneal epithelial repair. The bottle cap’s design for repeated use is perfectly matched with the single-day dosage of 0.8 ml, taking into account patient convenience and habit. What’s more, this product is truly free of preservatives, which is particularly beneficial for ocular surface health and aligns with the clinical principle that, when treating dry eye, “the absence of preservatives is more important than the composition of artificial tears.”

By signing this strategic cooperation agreement, both parties will fully leverage their respective strengths and complement each other’s resources, jointly committing to continuously providing high-quality, affordable therapeutic medications to the largest possible number of ophthalmology patients in China.
