During a 3-month follow-up period, patients treated with HGF showed significantly lower Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores—related to pain severity—than the placebo group (MD −1.56, 95% CI −2.12 to −1.00; P < 0.001). The benefits in terms of both complete ulcer healing rate and improvement in 3-month VAS scores for pain severity persisted over time.
The author believes that HGF plasmid therapy has the potential to promote ulcer healing and reduce pain in patients with CLTI, and these benefits persist over time.
