Continuously foster innovation, strengthen the intellectual property protection system, and enhance the science and technology innovation attributes.
Recently, our company received a notice from the National Intellectual Property Administration granting an invention patent. The invention patent application titled “Recombinant Plasmid Carrying the Human Glucagon-like Peptide 1 (7-36) Gene” (Application No. or Patent No.: 201810895971.5) has entered the stage of authorization and registration procedures. To date, our company has cumulatively obtained 20 authorized patents (including 15 domestic and 5 overseas), with 8 patent applications currently under examination. All core technologies have either been granted or applied for intellectual property protection.
“ The recombinant plasmid carrying the human glucagon-like peptide 1 (7-36) gene is a patent related to the company’s novel biologic gene therapy drug—“injectable recombinant human glucagon-like peptide-1 naked plasmid.” This new drug is indicated for type 2 diabetes. Currently, the number of patients with this disease in China exceeds 80 million. The primary treatment currently available involves injections of glucagon-like peptide-1 analogs, which are peptides themselves. The main drawback of these treatments is their short half-life, requiring frequent dosing and resulting in poor patient compliance. On the other hand, long-acting peptide products already on the market can be administered only once a week; however, these products are very costly, placing a heavy financial burden on patients.
This invention patent employs a gene therapy approach using a recombinant plasmid carrying the human glucagon-like peptide 1 (7-36) gene. After administration, the plasmid enables sustained expression of the glucagon-like peptide 1 (7-36) peptide in vivo, which is expected to effectively reduce the frequency of dosing and significantly lower production costs, thereby providing a clear competitive advantage.
The authorization of this invention patent is a recognition of the company’s independent innovation capabilities, its drug R&D prowess, and its efforts in intellectual property protection. The company will continue to foster innovation and increase R&D investment, leveraging its core technology platforms to further expand its pipeline for new drug development and maintain its high level of innovation-driven character in the pharmaceutical sector. At the same time, by consistently strengthening and broadening its intellectual property protection efforts, the company will raise technological barriers, build core competitiveness, and provide a solid foundation for its sustained growth.
