On April 11, 2025, Dr. Sung Jong-Hyuk, President of South Korea’s EpiBiotech, and his delegation of three members visited our company. They were received by Mr. Xu Songshan, Chairman of the Board; Mr. Han Chengquan, Vice President; and Ms. Ma Shanshan, Director of R&D. Both sides introduced each other to their companies’ basic information and ongoing product pipelines, and engaged in an in-depth exchange on the latest technological developments in the CGT field. The two sides reached an agreement in principle on technical cooperation in the cell therapy sector and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for strategic cooperation.
Korea’s Epibiotech is a biotechnology company specializing in the research and development of hair-loss treatments. It offers a variety of hair-loss treatment approaches, including cell therapy, antibody therapy, and synthetic drugs. Its flagship cell therapy has already entered the clinical research phase in South Korea.

Currently, the cell therapy industry is at a pivotal juncture—simultaneously benefiting from favorable policy incentives and experiencing a technological breakthrough. In line with the overarching requirements of new-quality productivity, governments at all levels in China have stepped up their support for the science and technology sector, particularly by introducing comprehensive, end-to-end industrial support policies aimed at fostering pharmaceutical innovation. According to data from Frost & Sullivan, the global cell and gene therapy market has grown from US$50.4 million in 2016 to US$20.8 billion in 2020, and is projected to reach US$30.54 billion by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 65.1% from 2021 to 2025. The Chinese market is experiencing even more rapid growth; by 2030, the size of China’s cell therapy market is expected to surpass 50 billion yuan, making it the world’s second-largest market.
Mr. Xu Songsan, Chairman of the company, stated that NORTHLAND has been deeply engaged in the research and development of gene therapy drugs. The company’s independently developed Donaperminogene Seltoplasmid Ingection (NL003) has entered the comprehensive review stage of new drug approval and is expected to receive approval within this year. Through the development of this product, the company has accumulated extensive experience across the entire process—from pharmaceutical research and preclinical studies to clinical trials, scale-up production, quality management, and regulatory submissions—in both the R&D and industrialization of gene therapy drugs. This strategic partnership with EpiBiotech aligns with the company’s development strategy and R&D direction, helping NORTHLAND enhance its core technologies in the CGT field and enrich its product pipeline. The hair-loss cell therapy project boasts a promising market outlook; according to relevant data, China currently has approximately 230 million hair-loss patients, and the treatment market is projected to reach 38 billion yuan by 2030. Both parties will adhere to the principles of complementary advantages, fairness, and impartiality to accelerate the R&D and commercialization of cell therapy technologies, continuously expand the scope of cooperation, and achieve win-win outcomes.
